I was asked to sing at my son’s high school graduation. I work at his school and it had been put out there from others that I could sing. I haven’t sang by myself for years, but I had to say yes. The graduation was held at the Center for Performing Arts here in our large city, where broadway shows come to perform. On the way to the graduation, I was thinking about the 3 bucket list items I was checking off in less than 2 hours: Sing the National Anthem in Public, Sing for a huge crowd by the hundreds and seeing my first born thru to graduation. I decided to practice but knowing from my choir days that I needed to seriously warm up my vocal chords, not just practice my song. I typed in warm up for Sopranos and it took me to you. So I did your warm up a few times. At the run thru, first a professional sound guy, never had it. A theater that was literally built for singing that held thousands. It was a full house. I stepped up to the center stage and sang acapella. That theater cheered when I sang land of the free. It was the most amazing thing to happen in my life in many many years. I know that those precious moments in my car singing your vocal warm up was a truly big part, so thank you from a 48 year old woman who is a file clerk at a high school to have a true miracle of a night!!! ❤

Hello mr Rolka! I have a question! I am a natural countertenor. My training is not classical, but modern singing. So now I am in the high / light tenor category. Anyway, lately i decided i wanted to explore / expand my countertenor voice. For that I decided to start with alto exercises & later with mezzo, etc. Do you think this is a good plan? I started working with your programs " Singing Warm Up - How to Improve Your Tone - Alto Range" & " Alto Singing Warm Up - Full Range - Agility Focused " Do you think these are good choices for my plan or would you suggest me some others from your channel? Thank you very much in advance!

Jeff, Thanks so much for providing these tools. I was a little skeptical at first about the 'no talking' approach. How will I know what to do...or not do?? But I found that if I approach the exercises as you demonstrate them, I get results over time...a more free and less effortful sound! I've struggled for years with manipulating my sound to try to get through my range and now I'm discovering I can make sound more simply. Much appreciated!
